GUN FALLS APART MID-ROBBERY
A man tried to rob a Midtown New York City jewelry store Sunday afternoon, but ran away empty-handed when his gun fell apart. The would-be robber walked into Rafaello and Co. Jewelry on West 47th Street around 4 p.m. and asked the two workers there, a 61-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, to see a chain locked in a display case. While the male employee left to fetch a key, the man put a pistol to the female employee’s head. When she screamed, her co-worker rushed back and struggled to grab the gun. When the robber stepped back to fire, the gun fell to pieces in his hand, authorities said. He bolted without any jewelry.
* First his gun went to pieces, then him.
* If they arrest him, wait till the trial. I bet his alibi falls apart too.
* Ironically, he wanted the jewelry to pawn for a new gun.
* Darn, one of the few things we still manufacture in this country and this happens.
* He doesn’t need a concealed weapons permit. He needs something to conceal his embarrassment.
* Hey, you don’t work in a New York city jewelry store without the nerve to fight back.
* A would-be robber? You know you have problems anytime they describe you with the phrase “would-be”.
