THE KELLOGG'S CEREAL CAFE
The Kellogg’s cereal company is opening a cafe in New York city. The move comes as Kellogg Co. has suffered declining cereal sales in the U.S. To boost sales, the company is also trying to market cereal as a night-time treat and on-the-go snack. And now – a restaurant. Bowls of cereal will cost $6.50 to $7.50 and combine cereals like Special K and Frosted Flakes with ingredients like pistachios and lemon zest. Kellogg says its cereal cafe, located on Broadway, between 48th and 49th streets, will open July 4. The cafe will also serve ice cream, juices and coffees.
* What other kinds of cereal are they serving at the New York City Kellogg’s Cafe?
– Big Apple Jacks
– Soho Krispies
– Crackhead Oat Bran
* Says one satisfied customer, “It’s GrrrrrrrrrRRRRREAT!” (play clip below)
* Way to think outside the cereal box.
* Frosted Flakes with pistachios? Wow, they really hit this one out of the park.
* $6.50 to $7.50 for a bowl of cereal? So – more than the cost of two full boxes of cereal from a store. Brilliant.
* Imagine somebody going on Shark Tank and proposing this.
* Cereal as a night-time treat? Yeah, maybe if instead of milk you poured on bourbon.
* Wait, a cafe? That’s the solution to the declining sales of a huge corporation?
* Next time you ought to try thinking a little bigger. This is America, damn it.
* Maybe this would work if every person in New York ate there … maybe.
* Not to worry. If this doesn’t turn the company around, they’re going to add a cereal kiosk.
