4-YEAR-OLD SHOOTS MOM FROM THE BACK SEAT

A north Florida mom is recovering after she was accidentally shot in the back by her 4-year-old son. Authorities in Gainesville say Jamie Gilt, 31, was wounded while driving her truck Tuesday afternoon. She was shot through the seat and the round went through her back. Gilt’s truck and horse trailer were stopped in a traffic lane when a deputy spotted her. She said her son had accidentally shot her. There was a booster seat in the back of the vehicle, but the boy was not strapped in when the deputy got to them. Authorities are looking into whether the boy was in the booster seat when the shooting occurred. No one else was inside the vehicle. It is not known how the boy got hold of the .45 caliber handgun. The mom was last listed in stable condition.
