WRAP YOUR CAR IN AN AD
Would you use your personal car for advertising? Digital ad firm Wrapify is offering to help drivers cover their car payments by turning their vehicles into moving billboards. The company is launching in New York City this week. Drivers can make around $450 per month from having their car wrapped in laminate ads, like public buses. Drivers are paid on how many miles they travel, the time of day and the traffic density of the population. That information is delivered via the Wrapify app on drivers’ iPhones, and the information is relayed to advertisers, giving them immediate feedback on the number of ‘impressions’ of the ad.
* My impression is this idea sucks.
* My car is already an ad … for what kind of car NOT to buy.
* Get ready, folks. This could ugly.
* Oh sure, the first 10,000 moving billboards you saw on the commute would be fine, but then it would get annoying.
* Great. So we’d go from reading texts while driving to reading these?
* Then when you see a GOOD ad, you lose control of your car trying to write down the phone number.
* I wouldn’t be paying attention to the ad, I be thinking about what a schmuck the guy in the car must be.
* At least when the driver-less cars get here you could pull the curtains and forget about it.
* I’m still worried about the first ads to appear as a big billboard on the moon.
