NAME A COCKROACH FOR YOUR LOVER FOR VALENTINE'S DAY
The Bronx Zoo is offering romantics the perfect Valentine’s Day gift: Naming a cockroach in honor of their love. Says the zoo: “Your donation will also help us protect these misunderstood love bugs, along with a lot of other animals, both big and small,” the zoo said. “As they say, roaches make the heart beat faster.” For $10, the Bronx Zoo lets you name a Madagascar hissing cockroach for the object of your affection, plus you’ll receive a digital certificate showing that one of the zoo’s tens of thousands of roaches share their name. The next level of roach-naming, for $25, includes a printed roach name certificate along with a confection from the Nunu Chocolate company of Brooklyn.
* Confection? let me guess – chocolate covered ants?
* For $35, can I get Pizza Rat named after a loved one?
* Roaches do make the heart beat faster, especially when you turn on the light and they’re all over your kitchen.
* Here I thought that Valentine’s Day Special at White Castle was a bad idea.
* Why do we have to protect them? Is there a shortage of cockroaches in the world?
* It’s the perfect way to tell that special someone in your life to get lost.
* Ooo, a digital certificate? That’s not cheesy at all.
