AUDIO: BELUGA WHALE DIES AT AQUARIUM

A beloved female beluga whale has died suddenly at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Maris, a 21-year-old white beluga whale, showed no signs of illness before her death Thursday. The aquarium said she ate and interacted normally with Grayson and Qinu, the other two beluga whales at the aquarium. “This is a case of sudden, acute animal death,” said Dr. Gregory Bossart, chief vet at the Georgia Aquarium. An autopsy is underway.
* Followed by a big lamp oil sale in the gift shop.
* The vet had to leave when he started to blubber.
* I can just hear that conversation in the zoo offices: “Call the place where we get the shark food from. Tell them we’re covered for a few days.”
* I mean, it’s not like you can flush it down the toilet.
* If the whale was so beloved why didn’t we let it go?
* I bet the whale was thinking, “I appreciate all the love but I’d like to swim in the open ocean one more time before I die.”
* “Sudden, acute animal death”? Isn’t all death acute?
* Three tons of dead fish? There’s nothing cute about it.
