MAN PARKS PLANE IN DRIVEWAY
A Long Island man has angered his neighbors after parking his Cessna airplane in his driveway. Harold Guretzky lives in Oceanside, in a quiet residential neighborhood. He doesn’t fly right now because of a medical condition and decided that instead of paying $150 a month to park his plane at the Republic Airport, he would park it in his driveway. “I can’t afford to keep it at the airport,” says Guretzky, who is going through a divorce. Now the town has hit him with a summons that could cost him $2,500. “My neighbors are crucifying me,” Guretzky says, arguing that “people have their boats in their driveway.” He says he wants to allow field trips from schools so that kids can see the plane up close.
* And I’m sure that school trip thing was exactly what he was thinking when he parked it there.
* What’s the neighbors’ problem? The plane looks too noisy?
* Maybe they’re just getting back at him ’cause he would never give them rides.
* It sounds like the driveway in front of Harrison Ford’s place.
* Don’t worry. If his wife’s lawyers are any good, it won’t be there long.
* People have boats in their driveways so why not an airplane? Does he really expect us to answer that?
* Hey, people have dogs and cats so why can’t you keep a seal then?
* This sounds like an episode of that Airplane Repo show.
* PHONE TOPIC: What strange thing does your neighbor have parked in his yard?
