TOLLBOOTH WORKER FIRED FOR PAYING SOMEONE'S TOLL

A Florida tollbooth worker who had been on the job for nearly three decades was fired for paying a driver’s $5 toll. Vladislav Samsonov said that when he realized he charged a tractor-trailer driver too little earlier this month, he paid the difference out of his own pocket. “In my eyes there was no crime committed, I just helped someone out,” the Boca Grande toll collector said. Samsonov, a 77-year-old military veteran, said he was initially handed a reduced schedule as punishment, but he declined to work fewer days. “If I can’t be trusted for five days, how can I be trusted for two days?” said Samsonov, who added that he had been asked not to pay customers’ tolls before, but had never formally been written up. Samsonov said he will now look for volunteer work, but will miss the people he used to meet at the booth.
* Finally some accountability in this society.
* Gee, it’s almost as if the capitalist system has no heart.
* I guess the Florida highway department has a Zero Tolerance policy when it comes to niceness.
* Well, I hope the tractor-trailer driver’s happy.
* It reminds me of that garbage collector who was put in jail for collecting garbage too early in the morning.
* Three decades in a tollbooth? I’m surprised he can still breathe.
* Wait – it’s 2015 – how is humans in tollbooths still a thing?
* A 77-year-old military veteran? I can’t wait to hear what Donald Trump says about this.
* On second thought, maybe I can.
* PHONE TOPIC: A worker/stranger once did me a big favor.
