MAN RESCUED AFTER DAYS IN MUD PIT – March 2
A heartbroken Florida man who vanished on Valentine’s Day after a bad breakup was found over a week later submerged in mud at a sand plant. Andrew Giddens, 36, was found stuck up to his shoulders in a mud pit at the Vulcan Sand Plant, eight days after his father reported him missing. The 36-year-old had been depressed after a recent breakup, and vanished sometime after talking to his dad. A police officer recognized Giddens’ car parked near the sand plant, and after a two-day manhunt, deputies found him stuck in shoulder-deep mud, his head camouflaged by tall grass. Crews spent two hours freeing him, and he was hospitalized in critical condition. It’s not immediately clear why Giddens wandered onto the property or how he wound up buried in the mud.
* Mentally he’s still a mess, but after days in a mud pit his skin is fabulous.
* After the breakup, his heart sank, and so did the rest of him.
* It was sink or swim, except without the option to swim.
* His girlfriend described him as kind of a stick in the mud and, well, you know.
* Hey, at least there weren’t any ‘gators.
