CAT STARTS KITCHEN FIRE – Jan 18

The Garland, Texas Fire Department found the cause of a recent kitchen fire – the family cat. The fire in the kitchen last Wednesday was quickly extinguished and there was no damage to the rest of the home. Investigators found video showing the cause of the fire. The footage shows a cat jump onto a stove and activating a burner, which ignited combustible material that was left on the stove. The fire department has released a reminder to residents regarding preventable kitchen fire safety:
– Keep combustible items such as paper towels, dish towels and food packaging away from stovetops.
– Always turn off cooking appliances when not in use.
– Consider using stove knob covers or removing knobs when not in use to help prevent accidental activation, especially in homes with children or pets.
* Yes, but the video clearly shows the cat using an accelerant.
* It also shows the cat writing a note that said, “I did this, signed The Dog.”
* Cats turning stove knobs. Not quite as adorable as when they walk on piano keys.
* And how did they get a video? Was the cat livestreaming itself for TikTok clicks? Does the family have a camera pointed at the stove? That’s just weird.
* Time to switch to a parakeet.
