(full, very confusing press release here: http://theacsi.org/news-and-resources/press-releases/press-2016/press-release-retail-2016)
* What about a little place called “Starbucks”?
* What about Jiffy Lube vs. Grease Monkey?
* Pay no attention to the fact that Dillard’s, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Sears are all closing stores. We like them!
* If you want to see these places while they’re still open, I wouldn’t put it off.
* It’s easy to keep the customer satisfied when you’re the only customer in the store.
* You want some numbers? Some actual research? Darn, I was hoping you’d say, “Don’t bother.”
* Okay, so far in 2017, 13 major retailers have closed 1,500 stores. But don’t worry. The stock market is up so that’s all that matters.
* Here’s how many stores major retailers closed: JCPenney – 130 to 140 stores, Macy’s – 68 stores, Sears and KMART – 150 stores, HHGregg – 88 stores. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
* And yet, ironically, NBC’s “Superstore” show stays in business.
