HOSTESS CUPCAKES HONORS BASEBALL OPENING DAY WITH “TOUCHDOWN!”

Major League Baseball’s 2015 season began Monday. The Hostess snack cake company tried to ride the promotional wave. The company tweeted a picture of two Hostess cupcakes, only with white icing, and the famous swirls were designed to look like baseball stitches – the cupcake looked like a baseball. Along with a photo of the cupcakes was the celebratory word: “TOUCHDOWN.” Later, in an e-mailed statement to CNBC, Hostess claims its tweet was intentional. “The “Touchdown” line was intentional; it’s fun and aimed at young audiences who are in on the running joke—which, of course, is the goalllll.”
* Of course it was.
* Who manages their Twitter account, Little Debbie?
* Way to start the season with a forced error, Hostess.
* Sure, it was intentional. They were intentionally trying to look stupid.
* Give them a break. If they’ve been eating Hostess cupcakes their brains haven’t been getting enough nutrition.
* I can just hear young audiences saying, “Don’t drag us into this.”
