CHINESE MAN HAD LIVE EEL IN HIS ABDOMINAL CAVITY

A 33-year-old Chinese man who showed up at an emergency room with severe abdominal pain turned out to have a foot-long live eel in his abdominal cavity. The man arrived at the Hunan Medical University Hospital with a pale face, sweating profusely, and complaining of stomach pain. A CT scan of the man’s abdomen showed a foreign object. Doctors performed laparoscopic emergency surgery. While exploring the man’s abdomen, they were shocked to discover a live eel wriggling among his organs. The eel had completely drilled through the intestinal wall and was now “swimming” in the abdominal cavity. Doctors grabbed the eel, then sutured the hole in the man’s colon and flushed the abdominal cavity with saline solution to minimize the risk of infection. The man recovered well and was discharged from the hospital. No word on what happened to the eel.
* Oh, I think we know what happened to the eel. It was in China. It was delicious.
* When in China, you have to sleep with your mouth closed or eels will crawl right in there.
* And you thought butterflies in your stomach were uncomfortable.
* This is not unusual. I’ve had Chinese food that found it’s way out of my abdomen prematurely, too.
