THE BUZZLIFE HACKS
Reddit asked, “What’s an insanely useful life hack that sounds fake but actually works?” Some of the responses:
– “If you crack an egg and get some of the shell in the egg, wet your fingers and you can get the shell out easily.”
– “Use a fork to dunk Oreos in milk. Put it through the cream, not the cookie.”
– “If you are in a boring meeting or driving or just nodding off, hold your breath. If you hold it long enough, your body will send a rush of blood to your brain, which in turn will make you suddenly feel wide awake. But only for a short time.”
– “To fall asleep faster, cool your room and warm your feet.”
– “If you have water stuck in your ear, turn your head to the side and jump up and down on one foot. It looks super stupid but it’s almost instant relief.”
– “If you get a mosquito bite, run a spoon under hot water (not hot enough to burn obvs) and then press the back it to the bite, and repeat that a couple times — it helps ‘cook’ the itchy protein so that you don’t have that large histamine reaction.”
– “If you have bad hay fever do some moderate exercise. It produces adrenaline which reduces histamine receptor activation and can drastically and immediately improve the symptoms.”
– “Sniff alcohol wipes when nauseous.”
– “To clean any stained Tupperware, place a folded-up paper towel with a bit of dish soap and water in and close the lid. Shake vigorously, and it will come out spotless.”
– “When you’re trying to calculate a percentage, you can always just flip the numbers. For example, 8% of 50 is the same as 50% of 8.”
– “If you have trouble with turbulence on airplanes, try this: Hold your feet slightly off the floor, and very slowly ease yourself forward and back in your seat. This minimizes your contact with the aircraft, which means you feel the turbulence less.”
– “If you flip a coin because you just can’t make up your mind. As soon as you see the results, if you will want to flip it again. Then you know which way you really want to go.”
– “If you pretend to be in a good mood, you wind up in a good mood. Your brain is just that stupid.”

* I’m gonna have to disinvite my neighbors from allowing them to use my pool. And my pool table.

GIRL FALLS FROM DISNEY SHIP, DAD JUMPS IN TO SAVE HER
A father jumped off a Disney cruise ship when his daughter fell overboard — rescuing her and then treading water for around 20 minutes before they were both rescued. The Disney Dream (* Uh … more like NIGHTMARE) was heading from Florida to the Bahamas on Sunday when a “man overboard” alert suddenly went off. The girl reportedly fell from the 4th deck & her dad went in after her. A bright yellow rescue boat was lowered into the water and made its way to where the dad and daughter were bobbing in the Atlantic, and they were both pulled to safety.
* They do warn you: keep your arms and children inside the ride at all times.
* The rescue boat would have gotten there sooner, but they had to suit up the guy in the Captain Hook costume for the full Disney effect.
* ♪♫ Out on the sea, out on the sea / You and your daughter / Treading de water / Out on the sea…♫♪♪
* The daughter promises she’ll come out of their cabin when they get to the Bahamas.
* The dad and daughter were, of course, charged for having The Little Mermaid Experience excursion.
* I once fell off a Disney boat. But they made me climb back in and finish the Small World ride.
DRUG PARAPHERNALIA FOUND IN KNIFE VICTIM’S RECTUM DURING SURGERY
A Florida Man who was stabbed in a drug dispute was in surgery when a nurse discovered a glass crack pipe, a lighter, and tin foil containing cocaine in his rectum. Michael O’Neill, 43, had been transported to St. Petersburg’s Bayfront Hospital, suffering from a knife wound. After being hospitalized for his injuries, Mr. O’Neill was booked into jail last Friday night for cocaine possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
* So he just carries this stuff around in his butt? There should be a government program: fanny packs for fashion accessory-less addicts.
* Dude – the lighter you can carry in your pocket. They’re not illegal.
* Did he try the old “That’s not mine – I don’t know how that got there”?
* Were they giving him a complimentary colonoscopy during the stabbing surgery?
* Maybe they were taking his temperature rectally and kept hearing a ‘clink’ when they stuck it in.
GIANT WINDMILL BLADE BLOCKS INTERSTATE 70
In Hagerstown, Maryland, on Monday morning, just after 5:30 a.m., a tractor-trailer was hauling a windmill blade west on I-70 when the blade became loose and slid off the truck. Wind turbine blades usually average well over 100 feet in length, and this one blocked the westbound lanes, stretched across the median, and blocked the eastbound lanes as well. One person was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The highway was reopened a few hours later.
* Rush hour on the interstate – the PERFECT time to haul an oversized load.
* Blade Bummer.
* And they used three extra bungee cords to secure it to the top of the truck, too.
* Even with the blade secured to the truck, those things are designed to move air. You hit 60 miles an hour, it’s going to lift your semi off the ground like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
ORCAS TRY TO SHARE FOOD WITH HUMANS
Researchers are reporting that wild orcas, on more than 30 occasions in four oceans, have attempted to share their food with people, possibly to develop relationships with humans. The behavior was recorded in a paper published Monday in the Journal of Comparative Psychology. In each of the instances recorded over two decades, orcas approached a person within a length of the orca’s body, and dropped freshly-hunted prey in front of the human, then waited for a response. The attempts only counted in the research paper if the orca, on its own volition, approached a person, came within its body length and clearly was offering food. Orcas of every age tried to share their prey, and just about everything was on the menu: sea otter, harbor seal, gray whale, green turtle, eagle ray, starfish, jellyfish… Orcas shared their food in all kinds of ways: dropping it in front of divers underwater, dropping it off at the surf line along shore and by approaching boats. Researchers say orcas are very social and have frequently been observed food-sharing amongst themselves.
* But just try getting them to split the check.
* Maybe they see the fast food wrappers and plastic soda bottles we dump in the ocean and feel sorry for us about our diet.
* How about bringing something we can actually EAT – tuna, salmon, mahi-mahi, some nice lobsters …
* Sounds like the orcas are starting their own DoorDash of the sea.
INTERNATIONAL NEWS
THOUSANDS OF NORWEGIANS TOLD THEY HAD WON BIG MONEY IN LOTTERY
Thousands of Norwegians were mistakenly told they had won a lot of money – up to $180,000 – in the country’s Eurojackpot drawing. The lottery is run by the state-owned gambling operator, Norsk Tipping, which blamed a conversion error. The company receives prize amounts from Germany in euros, which are then converted to Norwegian kroner, and during the conversion calculation the amount was multiplied by 100, instead of being divided by 100. The company admitted that “several thousand customers were notified of incorrectly high prizes.” The mistake has prompted the resignation of the company’s chief executive, Tonje Sagstuen, who said, “As a manager, it has been my responsibility to handle the mistakes that have occurred, but I am confident that all the improvement processes we have initiated are in good hands.”
* That’s Tonje “Fat Fingers” Sagstuen, who hit the times key instead of the division key.
* Let me guess – the person who checks the math before the emails go out was on break?
* Lots of Norwegians who thought they were suddenly rich also quit their jobs, but they won’t be doing as well as him.
* Jeeze. In America, the CEO would get a fat bonus, some more stock options and promotion for a mistake like that.
* Sorry, Norwegians. Back to your fishing boats, all of you.

SEAN COMBS TRIAL: MONDAY, JUNE 30
Here is what happened at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex-and-drug trafficking trial on Monday:
– The jury began deliberations. But after about two hours of deliberations the jury sent a note to the judge expressing a concern over one of its members. The note said “We have a juror, number 25, we are concerned cannot follow your honor’s instructions. May you please intervene.” Juror 25 is a 51-year-old Hispanic man who works as a scientist and likes to watch nature documentaries. He has a PhD in molecular biology and neuroscience. After consulting with both the prosecution and defense, Judge Arun Subramanian agreed to send back a response to the jury, reminding every juror of their duty to deliberate on a verdict.
