VENICE DOESN’T WANT BEZOS WEDDING

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is planning to marry former TV journalist Lauren Sánchez on June 24 in Venice, Italy, in a days-long event starting on June 24th. Venetians don’t seem to want it. While the city’s leaders are fully embracing the wedding and the money they claim the festivities will bring to the city – rumored to be around $8 million – local activists have mobilized a “No space for Bezos” campaign. The campaigners have been handing out flyers and hanging banners reading “No Bezos.” The anti-Bezoses argue that the event will not benefit ordinary Venetians in the slightest. The group is planning a big demonstration on the day of the wedding.
* It’s bad enough that all those Amazon delivery gondolas are clogging the canals all the time.
* Word on the street is, he’s having all the canal water replaced with sparkling Perrier.
* A word of warning to Bezos – you cannot buy off the citizens of Venice by just buying pizza for everybody. It just won’t work.
* A guy with $226 billion vs. some people handing out flyers. I wonder how this will turn out?
