THE 24-HOUR BANANA

A British biotech company has invented a banana that will not go brown for at least 12 hours. The company, Tropic, has altered the fruit’s genetics so it remains firm, fresh and yellow for about 24 hours after peeling, even when sliced. The advantage, they say: you can add them to fruit salads and they won’t turn ugly. The scientists were able to locate the enzyme that causes browning, called polyphenol oxidase, and disable it.
* Because it’s so hard to eat a whole banana after you peel it.
* The only problem with it is, after you eat a few, you’re no longer able to go out and get a sun tan.
* When you said ’24-hour banana,’ I thought this might have been a Viagra story.
* No mention of how much more they’ll cost than “regular” bananas. Must have forgot.
