AUSTRALIAN MAN’S LAST WORDS: “HOLD MY BEER”
An Australian man died at a popular Gold Coast beach. His last words were, literally, “Hold my beer.” 29-year-old Jake Brown made the fateful decision to jump over a shark net barrier at Paradise Point Parklands, which sits close to the beach and forms a safe swimming enclosure at the beach. One witness said he saw Brown and a friend sitting on the net’s float before Brown told his friend “Hold my beer” and jumped over the edge. The witness said Brown was quickly taken by an ocean current and swept out to sea, surfacing briefly before being dragged under the net and drowning. His body was recovered after police and divers searched for four hours.
* But the beer, man! What happened to the beer? It should be enshrined in some sort of Hall of Fame.
* “Hold my beer” was the last thing he said to anybody else. I’m sure he had some choice words when the current grabbed him.
* Because the water is… wetter?… on the other side of the safety net?
* Maybe they shouldn’t put the ocean so near the current.
