CRYPTO BILLIONAIRE BUYS BANANA FOR $6.2 MILLION
A cryptocurrency billionaire bought a piece of art for $6.2 million. The “art” was a banana duct taped to a wall. The banana is a piece of artwork called “Comedian,” created by the Italian artist and satirist Maurizio Cattelan. (* His point: if you call anything ‘art’, it is.) Crypto bro Justin Sun bid against six others – SIX OTHERS!!! – at an art auction Wednesday and won with a $6.2 million bid. But it gets better. He doesn’t even get the banana – the banana rots, so he’ll have to provide his own banana. For his money, he gets a roll of duct tape and instructions from the artist on how to “install” the banana properly to a wall. (* I know just where he can stick the banana.) He said afterwards, “I am honored to be the proud owner of this iconic work and look forward to it sparking further inspiration and impact for art enthusiasts around the world.”
* As long as the money doesn’t go to the poor, that’s the important part.
* The dummy could have bought a roll of Gorilla Tape on Amazon for $9.87.
* Warren Buffet only wishes he had this kind of investment strategy.
* As for me, I don’t see the a-peel.
* If you think taping a banana to a wall is dumb, imagine what a chimpanzee thinks of it.
