NOTARY PUBLIC DAY
The Notary Public Day website says this:
“Since ancient Roman times, notaries have recorded matters of judicial and commercial importance as well as private transactions when professional skill and integrity were needed. Today’s notaries are indispensable to the free flow of commerce and to the many highly sensitive personal transactions that transpire in daily life. By properly executing their duties as impartial witnesses, notaries help deter fraud and promote the integrity and reliability of document transactions. They do this by positively confirming the document signer’s identity, and carefully assessing the signer’s comprehension, competence and willingness to sign. The date of November 7 was chosen as Notary Public Day in recognition of the day that America’s first notary, Thomas Fugill, was appointed. Fugill’s appointment by the Colony of New Haven occurred on October 25, 1639 (Julian calendar), November 7 on the Gregorian calendar now in use.”

TRAPPED ASTRONAUTS LOOKING SICKLY

Those two astronauts who are marooned on the International Space Station, Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore, have posted some new pictures of themselves. Now, people are concerned for the two astronauts’ health. Williams and Wilmore been aboard the International Space Station since June 6. Their Boeing Starliner spacecraft experienced several malfunctions, effectively stranding them in space until February. Recent photos showed Williams in particular looking more gaunt than her usual self. In the photos, Williams appears happy and jovial, but she can’t hide how thin her face appears. Doctor Vinay Gupta tells the London Daily Mail tabloid that the stresses of living in space may be catching up. Gupta believes that Williams’s appearance is due to a calorie deficit. The doctor explained that the astronauts burn more calories in space.
* Yes, especially when you spend 6 hours a days screaming, “Get me off of this thing!!!”
* Send up some more space food. Mars Bars. Milky Ways. Moon Pies. Rocket Pops. Starbursts. Sun Chips. Orbit Gum.

VIRGINIA TOWN PRODUCES TOO MUCH TRASH

The small town of Gordonsville, Virginia, is losing it’s trash collecting company because the residents produce too much trash. The company, Updike Industries, is terminating its contract with the town six months early. Updike says its drivers regularly arrive at residences where piles of garbage are stacked 3 feet high, far exceeding the limit detailed in the contract: 64 gallons per week per household. The company has accused the town of not honoring the current contract, and neglecting to inform its residents of the trash limit. This is the second time the town has lost a trash company. The previous service also quit due to increased operational expenses from excess trash.
* Gordonsville sounds like a real pig sty.
* Time to bring in the goats, boys.
* There’s an old secret to getting better service out of a company. It’s called more money, you cheapskates of Gordonsville.

AWFUL AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC BREAK DANCER RETIRES

Rachael Gunn, the Australian break dancer who went viral for her bizarre performance at the 2024 Olympic Games – she’s the one who did the dance like a kangaroo – has announced that her professional break dancing career is over. “Raygun,” as they call her in the break dancing biz, said that while she still breaks, she’s not going to compete anymore. On Australia’s 2DayFM “The Jimmy and Nath Show” on Wednesday, 37-year-old Gunn said she only breaks at home with her partner as it has become “really difficult” for her to do now. She blamed the negative perception of her on the internet and the unexpected level of publicity it led to as reasons behind her decision to stop competing.
* There will be no Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo Down Under.
* Ah, well. Break dancing’s loss is… well, I don’t know whose gain it could be. TikTok? No more of her dumb videos?
* At least she retired at the top of her game. Which is kinda sad, because she sucked.
* And who break dances at home with their partner? “Hey, honey – you up for a little break dancing? A little poppin’? A little spin? A little rug burn?”

SO YOU WANT TO MOVE TO CANADA

Let’s say you want to move to Canada all of the sudden. Who knows why! It could happen. Here is what you need to know to move there:
– You will need appropriate authorization to work, or study, or to live in Canada on a long-term basis.
– You will need a work permit or permit for permanent residency.
– To obtain Canadian permanent residency, you must first receive an “Invitation To Apply” from the Canadian immigration ministry. So you will have to apply for the invitation to apply. (* Good to see American bureaucracy taking hold in Canada.)
– One way in is the Federal Skilled Worker Program. They like skilled workers, but it can only be in certain fields. 63 professions are eligible, including management consultants, scientistic, scientific technicians, and medical professionals. (* They don’t need any more hockey coaches, donut makers or maple sap tappers.)
– After you’ve been a permanent resident for three years, and have spent enough time in Canada, you can apply for Canadian citizenship.
– For some paths to citizenship, there is a requirement that you can speak English or French. (* Well, I’d better learn French, because my English good it is not.)
– If your education was not in Canada, you will be assessed of your education in comparison to a Canadian education. (* Well, I’m boned.)
– You can handle your own application process, or you can hire a representative – probably a Canadian lawyer – to guide you through the process.
* You know, this doesn’t sound like it’s all that complicated………. CONGRESSSSSS!!!!
* The most important thing they check is if you know how to spell words like “color,” “favor,” or “behavior” with a ‘U.’ Colour. If you don;t do the “u”, you’re out of there. Or should I say, “Oat of there.”
* And you’d better know how to spell Canada like a Canadian! It’s easy: C, eh?, N, eh?, D, eh?
