ROBOT DENTIST PERFORMS PROCEDURE

A Boston-based tech company has successfully managed the world’s first all-robotic dental procedure. Perceptive, a business that harnesses artificially intelligent imaging software paired with a robotic arm, says the technology works by scanning images beneath a patient’s gumline and then using AI for analysis before the robotic arms are put into action. The robotics system has been designed and rigorously tested to ensure that it can perform treatments safely, even in conditions where the patient moves a lot. In this particular case, the robot dentist performed a treatment in Barranquilla, Colombia, where the bot independently drilled into and shaved down a person’s tooth, a process called “cutting.”
* Yes, but the guy just went in for a fluoride treatment.
* Before the patient left, the robot dentist scheduled him for a new crown, because it had just bought a vacation home in Bogota.
* They tried this a week ago but the patient sneezed during the drilling and had to be put down.
* Imagine the small talk from a robot dentist while he’s working on your mouth: “How is your Roomba doing?” “Is your waffle iron remembering to floss?” “Have you thought about bringing your Keurig in for a cleaning?”
