LUCASFILM SUES STAR WARS CAR WASH IN CHILE

A car wash in Chile is being sued by Disney’s Lucasfilm movie studio. The car wash is called Star Wash. The logo looks pretty, pretty exactly like the Star Wars logo. Attendants dress as “Star Wars” characters such as Chewbacca or a Stormtrooper as they wipe down hoods. Boba Fett and hero Cassian Andor man the hoses, and Darth Vader uses The Force to summon cleaning cloths. Because of this, Lucasfilm claims its name and branding could mislead people into believing the car wash is somehow affiliated with the studio. Star Wash owner Matias Jara and his lawyer have argued that Lucasfilm’s copyrights do not extend to car washes.
* Well, you can’t argue with that legal mind.
* Concede? I’d just as soon kiss a Chamois.
* I bet when the halo rinse breaks down, Darth Vader says, “You have failed me for the last time.”
* “Help me scrape these bugs off the grill, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”
* As Yoda said, “Wax or do not. There is no dry.”
