PILOT FLIES TO WRONG CITY
Back on November 26th, a United Nigeria Airlines flight took off from Lagos heading to the Nigerian capital, Abuja, a distance of 320 miles. But the pilot landed at Asaba Airport, 200 miles off course. Making things worse, upon landing, passengers were told they had landed in Abuja, which they clearly had not. In checking the flight tapes, the cockpit is repeatedly asked to confirm that they are flying to Abuja and not Asaba – but the pilots insisted that they were supposed to fly to Asaba. The pilot claimed that he was given “the wrong flight plan.”
* ♫ ♩ “You say Asaba, and I say Abuja … You say Katsina, and I say Kaduna …” ♪ ♬ (Note: Katsina and Kaduna are actual cities in Nigeria.)
* I’m no Nigerian, but first they need to rename those cities, something not so similar.
* Just a little practical joke from the flight controllers?
* I feel sorry for Asaba. Is it really such a horrible place compared to Abuja?
* Maybe after the flight safety video they need to run a little geography lesson.
* What’s important here is where the luggage ended up.
