STUDY: WE DON’T TALK TO NEIGHBORS, BUT BASH THEM ONLINE

A study of 2,000 adults in the United Kingdom by mobile network GiffGaff (* Now they’re just making these companies up) wanted to examine the level of community spirit throughout the country. Some of the findings:
– The average adult has not spoken to their neighbors in three weeks.
– One in 20 participants cannot remember the last time they spoke to their next-door neighbor face-to-face.
– Yet over half – 56 percent – bash their neighbors in local online chat groups. Most of the comments concern inappropriate parking, loud music, barking dogs, loud parties and messy yards.
* Wow. The UK must have the worst block parties ever.
* Actually, a neighbor who stays out of your face for three weeks at a time sounds pretty cool.
* Why would I want to talk to my neighbor? All she does is write bad things about me.
* Next time you want to measure the community spirit in Britain, check the pubs.
