WOMAN BASHES MEDICAL APPOINTMENT ROBOT

A Chinese woman smashed up a hospital robot “receptionist” with a plank of wood. It happened in the lobby of the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University in the city of Xuzhou. In China’s hospitals now, all medical examination appointments are done by robots, with very few actual people to help the patients. In a video, the woman can be seen repeatedly hitting the robot with the thick piece of wood, with machine pieces scattering all over the floor. Despite the bashing, the robot manages to spring back to life and swivel its head and raise its arms. Police were called in following the incident. Medics’ initial assessment was that the woman may be suffering from mental illness.

* In the future, when the robots allow us to look back in history, this could be another Tianamen Square moment for the human race.
* This is good, because now they might finally arm the robots with lasers.
