FINLAND IS HAPPIEST COUNTRY, DESPITE EVERYBODY THERE LIVING IN FINLAND
The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (* Wow. How much did they pay for THAT name?) released their 2023 list of the Happiest Countries In The World. Countries are ranked on happiness based on their average life evaluations over the three preceding years, in this case 2020 to 2022. For the sixth year in a row, Finland is the world’s happiest country. Finland, and its neighbors Denmark, Iceland, Sweden and Norway all score very well on the measures the report uses to measure happiness: healthy life expectancy, GDP per capita, social support, low corruption, generosity in a community where people look after each other and freedom to make key life decisions.
The Top Ten: Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Israel, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland, Luxembourg, New Zealand.
#11 thru #20: Austria, Australia, Canada, Ireland, United States, Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom, Lithuania.
The Least Happy Countries: #136-Lebanon; #137-Afghanistan
* Finland is the happiest? God, I hate them.
* This is the country that in 2017 named “rye bread” it’s favorite food. So you can almost feel the joy.
* Shhh – don’t tell them they share an 830-mile border with Russia.
* How can Lebanon be so unhappy? How can any country that makes Lebanon Baloney be so unhappy?
* Lebanon is second-to-last because the Lebanese are at least happy they don’t live in Afghanistan.
