DO YOU KNOW THESE SPORTS QUESTIONS FROM “JEOPARDY”?

Jeopardy is in the middle of what they call the High School Reunion Tournament, featuring young people who were on the show two years before when they were in High School. So they should be smarter, right? On last Thursday’s Jeopardy show, the category was “In The Sport.” None of the contestants got the questions correct. The premise was, “Here are some terms related to a sport, you tell us what the sport is.” Are these questions unusually hard?
– $200: “Inherited runners, appeal play, and pickoff” (What is baseball?)
– $400: “Best ball, casual water, closed faced, the absolute worst— shank” (What is golf?)
– $600: “Eight-count, accidental butt, cutman” (Answer: What is boxing?)
– $800: “Penalty-killing, plus-minus, the five hole, the biscuit” (Answer: What is ice hockey?)
– $1000: “Chukker, gag bit, mallet, and a lot of money” (Answer: What is polo?)
* The big answer: What are nerds, Mayim?
* “Accidental butt,” “five hole” and “gag bit” sound kind of naughty.
* This is Jeopardy. Jeopardy contestants don’t get on the show by binge-watching ESPN.
* In fact, when a contestant starts acting up, a stagehand runs out waving a badminton racket and frightens them back to their podium.
* Back to an easier category. Like opera.
