WOMAN SWIMS 1.5 MILES IN ANTARCTIC WATERS

A Chilean swimmer has become the first person to swim 1.55 miles through the frigid waters of Antarctica. Bárbara Hernández, 37, an open water swimmer, wore only a standard bathing suit when she took on the 36-degree water. Hernández said her swim, believed to be a new world record for the longest Antarctic swim, was aimed at raising awareness of the need to protect Antarctic waters.
* And she says if she ever catches the guy who pushed her off the boat, she’ll kill him.
* 36 degrees? Hey – the water temperature when the Titanic sank was 28. Stop whining.
* Apparently we now need to protect Antarctic waters from crazy record-seekers.
* She was a Chile woman? You bet.
* When she got out, they handed her a Slurpee to warm up.
