Liposuction has overtaken breast augmentation as the world’s most popular form of cosmetic surgery, according to newly published data from the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. There were over 30 million surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures carried out in 2021, a jump of 19% from the previous year.
– Also among the most popular procedures are nose jobs and tummy tucks. Eyelid surgery was the third-most common procedure in the world in 2021, and the most popular among men.
– Thigh lifts were found to be the world’s quickest growing form of cosmetic surgery, up over 53% from 2020.
– The report also highlighted a “notable increase” — of over 30% — in the use of hyaluronic acid, which is commonly injected as a facial filler.
– The USA has the most cosmetic surgeons in the world, approximately 7,000.
– Turkey, Colombia, Mexico and Thailand are the most popular destinations for patients traveling overseas for cosmetic treatments.
