TEEN SWALLOWS STINGING JELLYFISH IN OCEAN
An Australian teenager spent Christmas Day in the hospital after swallowing a bluebottle jellyfish while swimming at Bondi Beach. The 18-year-old managed to make his way back to shore after the stinging creature went into his mouth. He was treated by lifeguards, and then taken to a hospital, but he was later discharged. It’s not known how the bluebottle made its way into the boy’s mouth, although they do float at the ocean’s surface, or if it was dead or alive when he swallowed it.
* It’s a jellyfish. How do you tell if it’s dead or alive?
* I guess he refused the old folk remedy of treating a jellyfish sting, which is having someone pee on it.
