WORKER GETS MISTAKENLY OVERPAID, DISAPPEARS
A story out of Chile: Last month, a worker at the Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos factory – a food plant – was accidentally paid over 300 times his normal salary. The average take-home pay in Chile is $750 a month. The unnamed man normally earns about $450 per month. They mistakenly paid him $150,000. He mentioned it to his manager. The manager passed it on to HR. HR asked the man to return the cash, and he promised to go to the bank THE VERY NEXT DAY and do that. But instead of giving it back, the man withdrew the money from his account and hasn’t been seen since. The company has tried to make contact with the man, but to no avail.
* And the World Hide-and-Seek Championships for 2022 have begun!
* How do you say in Chile: “Take This Job and Shove It”?
* “Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos” or “Industrial Food Consortium.” Kinda sounds like a place that can afford a little $150,000 ding.
* Chile, eh? The trail is probably cold.
