CALLING SOMEONE BALD IN THE UK IS NOW HARASSMENT
Insulting a man for being bald in the workplace is now sex harassment in the UK, according to a panel of judges. The finding — made by three judges who are also balding — came in the case of an electrician, Tony Finn, who sued a small Yorkshire-based family business over the term. One of Mr. Finn’s supervisors allegedly called him a “fat bald [bleep]” and he was later fired from his job. He took the matter to the employment tribunal to determine if calling someone bald was simply insulting — or rose to the level of harassment. The panel said that hair loss is far more common among men than women, so using the term is “inherently related to sex.” They said calling someone “bald” is equivalent to commenting on the size of a woman’s breasts.
* Hairy breasts? I’m confused here.
* So the “fat” part and the “bleep” part are okay? England is weird.
* How about egghead? Cueball? Chromedome?
* “Hey handsome – nice follicles.”
* Call someone bald, there’ll be hell toupée.
