SMOKING TURK FALLS DOWN SINKHOLE

A Turkish man in Instanbul was taking a cigarette break in an outdoor courtyard when he was suddenly swallowed by a sinkhole. Security video shows Omer Kacagan, a shopkeeper, smoking a cigarette and talking on the phone in front of his business. He takes a few steps next to some vending machines and suddenly the bricks he’s standing on give way and he drops out of sight. Then, to add insult to injury, one of the vending machines goes into the hole, gets stuck at an angle, and bags of snacks from the machine start raining down inside the hole. Mr. Kacagan was rescued by firefighters around 25 minutes later. All told, he fell about 20 feet and suffered only a few minor injuries. Officials are investigating what caused the sinkhole, which some sources attributed to the fact that there used to be a well in the area.
