TENNIS STAR DJOKOVIC BOOTED OUT OF AUSTRALIA OVER COVID
Tennis star Novak Djokovic (pronounced JOKE-a-vitch), the world’s top-ranked male player, was booted out of Australia on Wednesday ahead of the Australian Open. Having arrived in Melbourne, the nine-time champion was isolated in a room at the airport for nine hours, then told he could not get in due to issues with his visa, and evidence supporting his vaccine exemption. Djokovic would not say that he had been vaccinated, but claimed that he had COVID last summer and that should have been sufficient to secure entry into the country under federal guidelines. Many Australians, including the Prime Minister, were angry that the Djokovic was getting special treatment, even though Australia has had some of the world’s toughest border restrictions and only started to allow some international travel in November.
* Oh no. Now what will they talk about at the Australian Open?
* A spoiled athlete? Causing problems? Unheard of!
* This is true – they’ve started calling him No-vax Djokovic. Talk about jokes writing themselves.
* Like they say, it’s the shots you don’t take that you’ll miss.
