SURVEY: SIBLING RIVALRY
A new poll of 2,000 adults from NOW TV looked at sibling rivalries:
– 51 percent still have a competitive relationship with their brothers and sisters.
– 20 percent still argue over who is their parent’s “favorite” in the family.
– Other rivalries tend to be about career goals, who’s the better cook, who drives a better car, home ownership and parenting skills.
– 43% believe this competition heightens each year around big gift-giving holidays like birthdays and Mother’s Day.
– Older sisters are even more competitive than older brothers.
– 15 percent told researchers their sibling rivalry has motivated them to achieve more in their careers.
* Well, look at me, I’m in radio, so my (brother/sister) wins.
* Those extra kids you had ’cause you didn’t want your first to be an only child? Big mistake. It’s not fun for them at all.
* It’s okay to be a worse cook than your sister, because you’ll never be expected to host Thanksgiving.
* It sounds bad, but it could be worse. Some baby animals eat the runt of the litter.
* PHONE TOPIC: Do you have a major rivalry going on with a brother or sister? Over what?
