BEES KILL PENGUINS IN AFRICA

In what seems like a Mad Libs headline, a swarm of bees has killed 63 endangered African penguins on a beach outside Cape Town. Investigating veterinarians said they found bee stings around the penguins’ eyes, and dead bees on the scene. The event happened at Simonstown, a small town near Cape Town. Said David Roberts, a clinical veterinarian with the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds, “This is a very rare occurrence. We do not expect it to happen often, its a fluke.”
* This is the story you never hear about the birds and the bees.
* If only there had been some body of water near the beach for the penguins to dive into to escape the bees.
* Well, they were sure right about them being endangered.
* What’s sad is, the penguins were just there on vacation from the Antarctic winter.
* Right after this happened, a colony of fire ants caught sight of a bunch of African walruses.
* African penguins. Which reminds me of a joke: What’s the stupidest animal in the jungle? A polar bear.
