PLAYING VIDEO GAMES BURNS CALORIES

Here’s news you can’t believe: New research claims to show that video gaming burns up to 200 calories per hour. Game platform Stakester funded a study that showed that two hours of gameplay burned about 420 calories in men and 472 calories in women. That’s as good as performing a staggering 1,000 sit-ups, according to Stakester. Fifty volunteer gamers were hooked up to smart devices that tracked their heart rate and energy consumption while playing two different videos games — “FIFA” and “Call of Duty: Warzone” — for two hours, and also while performing sit-ups. Results showed that the male gamers burned an average of 210 calories, and women an average of 236, during one hour of gameplay.
* Sure, I’ll believe a video game company that says video games make you healthier.
* That must be why you see so many toned and muscular gamers.
* The exercise must come from all that reaching for the Cheetos and Mountain Dew.
* And the chewing and swallowing.
* How am I supposed to believe this study when they say women burn calories playing video games? Everyone knows women don’t play video games.
* Next up, a study that shows posting to TikTok a few minutes a day can get you ready for the Olympics.
