SCHOOL IN TROUBLE FOR “CHIVALRY DAY”

Shallowater High School in Lubbock, Texas, is catching heat for an assignment called “Chivalry Day” where boys and girls were supposed to show respect to each other. For some reason, parents and people on the internet got upset over this, and before it happened, Chivalry Day was canceled.
Here were the rules for the boys:
– Gentlemen will dress appropriately in jackets and ties or suits.
– Gentlemen will rise when a lady walks into the room.
– Gentlemen will show courtly courtesy as they assist ladies who have dropped an article by picking it up.
– Gentlemen will assist ladies to seat themselves or rise from their seats.
– All females will be considered noblewomen and be addressed as “milady.”
– When taking a lady out for the evening, the gentlemen will pay all expenses.
Here were the rules for the girls:
– Ladies must dress in a feminine manner to please the men.
– Ladies must address all men respectfully by title, with a lowered head and curtsy.
– Ladies must not complain or whine.
– Ladies must cook something for the gentlemen in their class.
– Ladies must not initiate conversation with males.
– Ladies must walk behind men or walk daintily, as if their feet were bound.
– Outside the classroom, ladies cannot show intellectual superiority if it would offend the men around them.
* Oh, you gals may complain about all the submissiveness, but I bet no one complained about the men paying all the expenses for the date.
* Any disagreements between students would be settled with a joust out on the playground.
* At least they dropped any reference to chastity belts.
* Well, that takes care of that. Now, who’s going to wash the dishes?
