BEWARE DIET FACE
Want to lose weight? That’s great, but now you have to watch out for something called “Diet Face”. Doctors warn that fat loss accelerates the looks of aging by deflating the cheeks, hollowing the eyes and making the jowls look heavy. Researchers say the appearance that’s now called “diet face” has to do with the loss of facial fat. It explains why a host of celebrities, such as Simon Cowell, Renee Zellweger, and Celine Dion, look up to a decade older after they trimmed down. A study from the Medical College of Wisconsin, published in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, shows fat is, effectively, the “scaffolding” that holds the face up. This could lead to techniques to replace or reposition the midface fat in a more “physiologic” way, with the aim of recreating the facial fat distribution of youth.
* Somebody send this story to John Goodman.
* Fat is the scaffolding that holds the face up? Oh, so we’re fatheads, are we?
* Diet Face? And I was just coming to terms with Resting Bitch Face.
* In defense of Renee Zellweger, that’s not Renee Zellweger anymore. It’s an alien.
* You mean Hal Holbrook has been on a diet all his life? He’s been looking 100 years old for the past 50 years.
