JAPANESE APPLES STOLEN
Somebody stole around 6,000 Shinano Gold apples, worth a total of $11,000, from an orchard in Shiwa, Japan. The theft occurred some time last weekend. Police said the tracks of a small truck were found near the 70 apple trees. The grower was angry, saying he had worked very hard and that the apples, which are often included in fruit gift sets, were ready to be picked. Police said there has been an increasing number of fruit thefts this year.
* Angry? He was downright apple-plectic.
* Well, how do you like them ap— nevermind.
* Unlike the apples, those thieves are rotten to the core.
* They bundled up the apples and peeled out.
* Has anyone checked if Harry & David have an alibi?
