10 MINUTE MASSAGE GIVES STRESS RELIEF

A new study from the University of Konstanz in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, says all you need is a 10 minute massage to fight stress. Researchers said a group of participants displayed notable improvements in both psychological and physiological relaxation after just a 10-minute massage. These findings aren’t limited to massages, though. Participants also reaped serious stress-relief rewards after 10 minutes of regular old relaxation – albeit to a lesser extent than after a massage. This is the first study to ever conclude that the body’s parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) can be jumpstarted for stress relief by such a small period of relaxation.
* Sounds like the researchers just wanted free massages, and came up with a goofy study to get them.
* Let me get this straight: if you relax for 10 minutes, it will make you feel more relaxed? That’s incredible.
* Now all we have to figure out is how to give someone a massage from a social distance of six feet away.
* So, after the ten minutes, how long ’til all the stuff that’s driving you nuts comes back again? 90 seconds?
* I wonder if an hour of drinking margaritas would reduce stress? Who wants to help me test my hypothesis?
