5G ON MOUNT EVEREST
During the past few months, when climbing activity on Mount Everest was shut down due to the pandemic, Chinese tech giant Huawei and state-owned network provider China Mobile wired the world’s tallest mountain with 5G wireless. In a press release, Huawei stated that the new super-fast data speeds on Everest will be used for “smart tourism” – with high-definition video streaming and a way to see Everest on your screen from anywhere in the world. Huawei said the 5G network would also serve as a useful tool for mountaineers and scientists on the mountain. There will be better communication during rescues if climbers get injured or caught in bad weather, and tourists traveling from afar can keep up with their social media.
* I guess all those people in line waiting to hike up to the summit were complaining that they were bored with no way to check their email.
* “Hi from Everest! I’m freezing to death! LOL!”
* Sorry, China – no matter how many nice little things you do, we’re not giving you a pass on starting the pandemic.
* I tell ya, I don’t get no respect. I just tuned in to the Mt. Everest webcam … and I got mooned by a Yeti!
