GOLDEN HOTEL IN HANOI
A five-star hotel has opened in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake Hotel features gold-plated bath tubs, sinks and even toilets. Hotel facilities include a 24-karat gold-tiled infinity pool on the rooftop. Some of the hotel restaurant’s food is sprinkled with edible gold leaf. Around a ton of gold was used to cover the hotel inside and out. (* Gold – we get it already.) The cost is about $250 a night, the same price bracket as rival luxury accommodations in the city. (And about the same as a double at the Topeka Best Western.) Nguyen Huu Duong, chairman of Hoa Binh Group, who owns the hotel, says if not for the pandemic, the hotel would likely be fully booked with international guests. Vietnam has been relatively successful in containing the coronavirus outbreak with only around 350 or so cases and no reported deaths.

* It’s the only hotel where they run you through a metal detector on the way out.
* It’s like Fort Knox threw up.
* It’s like a beacon for people with more money than taste.
* “Hello, welcome to the Hanoi Golden Lake Hot—DON’T TOUCH THAT! Here’s your key, your room is located on the second flo–DON’T TOUCH THAT! Just take the elevator at the end of the hallwa— DON’T TOUCH THAT!”
* Meh – a gold hotel is for chumps. The REAL high-class metal is platinum.
