GUY BEHIND SWEDEN’S “IGNORE THE PANDEMIC” RESPONSE ADMITS OOPSIE
Sweden’s top epidemiologist has admitted his strategy to fight Covid-19 was wrong and resulted in too many deaths. Anders Tegnell was the man who persuaded his country to avoid a strict lockdown. The country remained open, and Swedes have been able to visit restaurants, go shopping, attend gyms and send children under 16 to school. Many anti-lockdown supporters in the U.S. pointed to Sweden as the example of what to do. Wrong. The country is seeing a rate of 43 deaths per 100,000, among the highest globally and far exceeding that of neighboring Denmark and Norway, which imposed much tougher lockdowns at the onset of the pandemic. Tegnel now says they should have done things differently. “Clearly, there is potential for improvement in what we have done in Sweden.”
* He then retreated to his lair inside an extinct volcano to come up with another plan.
* What’s Swedish for “D’oh!”?
* To make amends, he’s offering to go to each household where somebody died, and mow their lawn.
* Are they at least going to give him a pay cut?
