UK COUPLE SPENDS SIX HOURS DRIVING TO NEAREST OPEN MCDONALD’S

Two 23-year-old Brits broke free from their eight-week coronavirus lockdown to take a day trip last Saturday to the nearest McDonald’s drive-thru. McDonald’s have just begun reopening in the UK. The nearest one open was in the city of Peterborough. Friends Ryan Hall and Paisley Hamilton drove 250 miles round trip from Hull down south to Peterborough – 3 hours away – where they spent around $25 on a large Big Mac meal, a large McNugget meal, two double cheeseburgers, one McChicken sandwich, a cheeseburger and a Filet-O-Fish. (* That sounds great and all, but not nearly enough fries.) Extra costs included spending about $33 on gas and waiting in a 30-car line at the drive-thru when they arrived. They enjoyed eating the entire order sitting in their car in the McDonald’s parking lot before driving home. The couple said that, despite the time and the money, they regret nothing.
* Not even the self-hatred.
* It was a 6-hour round trip, plus three hours to eat that 15 pounds of food they bought.
* This wasn’t a Happy Meal, this was a Glutton Meal.
* You won’t find any Americans willing to drive six hours for McJellied Eels, I bet.
* When they got back to Hull, it was time to shop for larger pants.
