GUY PAYS HALF A MILLION DOLLARS FOR A PAIR OF USED SNEAKERS
Canadian entrepreneur and collector Miles Nadal paid $437,500 for a pair of Nike’s “Moon Shoes” sneakers at auction on Tuesday. It was the world record for the highest amount paid for a single pair of sneakers. The ultra-rare handmade shoes were designed for runners at the 1972 Olympic trials. Just 12 pairs of the shoes were manufactured and only “a handful of pairs” are known to exist. “I am thrilled to acquire the iconic Nike ‘Moon Shoes,’ one of the rarest pairs of sneakers ever produced, and a true historical artifact in sports history and pop culture,” Nadal said after the purchase.
* And then he said, “Don’t tell my wife.”
* So they didn’t actually go to the moon, right?
* All sneakers are handmade, you idiot, by those poor kids in China.
* It’s good to see these billionaires putting their money to good use in helping the world.
* Anything that siphons off cash from rich goons is a good thing.
