FINE WINE THEFT
Thieves in Paris made off with at least 150 bottles of expensive wine last Monday. Police say they cut a hole into the wine cellar of Michelin-rated Maison Rostang restaurant. The wine cellar was undergoing renovations. Maison Rostang claims to have over 50,000 bottles in their cellar, including a bottle from 1839. The break-in resulted in the theft of at least 150 bottles worth an estimated US$677,000.
* Oh, tell them to stop whining!
* $677,000, or about 50 bucks before the markup.
* How good can that wine be? It’s been sitting around so long because nobody wants it.
* “Mon dieu! They stole ze wine! Where ever will we find some more, living in France as we do?”
* In France, they can bring you a $20,000 bottle of wine with a snap of the fingers, but just try asking for a glass of water with some ice in it.
