HOME ALONE: A HANDY GUIDELINE

Prevention magazine, the publication that finds death around the corner in just about everything, has come up with a handy list of the Ages When It’s OK To Leave Your Kid At Home:
– 7 & under: should not be left alone for any period of time.
– 8 to 10: Should not be left alone for longer than one-and-a-half hours, and only during daylight and early evening.
– 11 to 12: May be left alone for up to 3 hours, but not late at night.
– 13 to 15: May be left unsupervised, but not overnight.
– 16 to 17: May be left unsupervised, for up to two consecutive nights.
* Two nights left alone is good – one for the party, one to clean up the mess.
* Results may vary, depending on how many secret cameras you have set up in the house.
* Do those folks at Prevention magazine know we have cellphones now, with Facetime and stuff?
* Are they nuts? This should be reversed. 16-year-olds are going to throw parties, and should never be left alone. 7- year-olds, on the other hand, will never throw a party, so it’s fine to leave them home alone as long as you want.
* PHONE TOPIC: Did you ever get in trouble while home alone?
