JAPANESE ARMPIT ADVERTISING
A Japanese company is trying to sell advertising placed on young women’s armpits. Japan’s Wakino Ad Company – and “Waki” is the Japanese word for “armpit” – has developed armpit-sized stickers where you print your company’s message, and the stickers are applied to the armpits of models, who then wear sleeveless tops and do things like exercise in public places or ride the subway hanging onto the straps as a way of exposing their underarms – and thus the ads – to the public. Wakino has already landed its first paying customer: a dermatology chain called Seishin Biyo Clinic, which is using armpit advertising to spread the word about its painless underarm hair removal procedure. Wakino is currently recruiting models through its website, and male applicants are also welcome.
