WAITRESS GETS $3,000 TIP
On May 20, Michelle Bozemen was waitressing at Ramblin’ Jack’s Rib Eye in Napavine, Washington, when she was “shocked” to discover a customer had left her a $3,000 tip on a $44 bill. On the back of the receipt, it read, “Thanks for smiling. You work hard and the country is in a bad place.” He instructed her to enjoy the money and do something good for someone else. Bozemen has worked as a waitress for over 20 years to support her three children as a single mother, and her regulars report that no one deserves the windfall more. Bozeman shared some of the tip with her co-workers and said she plans to use the money for housework, spoiling her seven grandchildren and using the rest to help fund a trip to Ireland.
* All that with $3,000? After taxes, that’s ten bucks for each coworker, a can of Endust for the housework, two hours at Chuck E. Cheese for the grandkids, and one of those special $20 plane fares to Ireland.
* Come to think of it, the smart move here might be lottery tickets.
* “The country is in a bad place.” Seriously? Farther north, and it would be too cold, farther south and it would be too hot.
* I’d tip $3,000 if the waitperson just stopped walking up to me when I’ve got food in my mouth to ask how everything is.
