SEMI-TRUCKS HELP WITH SUICIDAL MAN

In Coolidge, Michigan, police received a call around 1 a.m. about a man threatening to jump from a highway overpass onto Interstate 696, twenty-five feet below. The Michigan State Police quickly closed the highway, then started organizing semi trucks, asking them to park under the overpass, side-by-side, so that if the man jumped he would fall only about 10 feet and land on top of a semi. In all, 13 semi trucks were parked under the overpass. The man did not jump and the situation ended when he walked off the bridge. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and the highway was reopened to traffic.
* It was like a Burt Reynolds movie from the 1970’s.
* It’s not as dramatic as, say, jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, but it’s Coolidge, Michigan – whaddaya gonna do?
* Unfortunately, the man passed out near death breathing the exhaust fumes from all the trucks.
* Plus, all the truck drivers were late with their deliveries, and they were all fired.
